Since an actual physics course at the high school level is math based, I would not want to break up the progression in 11th grade with biology. It could be done quite comfortably along with Algebra 1.

There are many schools that do offer high school credit for Physical Science though in my day, it was a 7th or 8th grade class. Thank you for enduring these questions!!:001_smile:Ĭonceptual Physics is probably more akin to Physical Science because of the absence of the math. My dd would prefer Physics over Biology and Chemistry.she thinks.:lol.science is not her favorite subject (neither is math:D).Ĭould she take Conceptual Physics in 9th alongside Algebra 1? If we did this, should she then take Chemistry in 10th and Biology in 11th? Would we then take Physics (a math physics) in 12th? And I do not have the expectation that my younger dd will take Algebra 1 in 9th, but my older dd has needed this so you never know.

but my older dd's sequence has become so messy that I want to plan well for my younger dd. This would help me with planning better for my younger dd. If a full high school level Chemistry is needed, would this be taken in 9th grade? And if in 9th, could a student just then taking Algebra 1 handle this level of Chemistry? If a student took a lighter chemistry course in 8th grade would this suffice to cover the lacking needed to understand Biology better? If so, would this need to be a heavier course such as Conceptual Chemistry or better? Would a light course with experiments (maybe some from TOPS) and some foundation work and reading be enough? Other Resources for Learning Challengesįor those of you who feel that Chemistry should come before Biology in the high school science sequence, please help me with these questions.
